Medicine park does not have alot of choices but, we were very happy with the riverside cafe. The food was hot and tasted great. I had the chicken sandwich and okra and E had the burger. I hate that they don't serve alcohol. I just really wanted a mixed drink or a decent beer with dinner and that was not an option here. The wait staff was very young so im sure it has something to do with the liquor license issue. I love the patio and the fact that there are trees growing through the middle of the restaurant. On sunday we ate lunch on the patio and had live music. It was great! Just what we needed before we headed back to the city after a mini vacation.

We were actually advised against going here for dinner, but after a couple of days you run out of options and we wanted to try it for ourselves. I'm glad we did, even if just for the atmosphere. The restaurant is literally built into the creek. They kept a couple of the older trees and used them as support posts which was awesome. All we had to do was turn our heads to see all sorts of wildlife. Trout, geese, ducks, turtles, and even a finch nesting. The food was about as good as you could expect from a cafe in a small town, I ordered a medium rare steak (the special, because I like the whole experience, and without high expectations) and of course it came out over cooked, but it really had a nice flavor, and I was pleasantly surprised. The fried pickles were awesome and the people delivering the food were really cheerful. The only thing we did not enjoy about our visit was our waitress. She seemed almost angry that we were there. All of the other servers were seen laughing and chatting with their tables while she was nowhere to be found throughout our meal. The kicker was at the end of the meal when she stood over us, waiting for us to sign the check. It was so uncomfortable. We have both worked in the industry and are excellent tippers. But she got the bare minimum (for us) 20%. Looking back she probably didn't get the insult...

I can't speak to the quality of the food in this review..... We walk up to the restaurant and we stood outside alongside another group waiting to be seated. A waitress walks by and said, "go inside, the host will seat you". My brother and I walked inside and there was two guys behind this counter and an older lady with blonde hair. The lady was busy going over the check with another group, however the two guys literally just stood there, neither said anything to us. We waited inside for 15 minutes. Both my brother & I took turns using the restroom, and we walked around trying to get assistance. A family of six walks in the door and one of the guys behind the counter walks out to the other family and said, "would you like inside or outside?" The gentlemen said, "I believe they were here before us" pointing to my brother and I. The dude sits us and asks what we want to drink. He gets the drinks and says, "your server will be right with you". We sat there waiting for about fifteen more minutes. We see two waiters and two waitresses, walking back and forth. Sometimes talking to customers at tables, sometimes just standing around. I tried to get their attention several times with no luck. I told my brother, " F**k this place, lets just leave" We got up and walked out. We passed two servers, the host and the lady behind the counter....Not a word was said to us.... NOTHING. I can handle mediocre food when the service is good, I can't stand piss poor service like this.

Beautiful view of Medicine Creek. Husband said his broiled catfish was the best he's ever had. We enjoyed our beers overlooking the patio. Very fun and relaxing place.

Because of it's location this is somewhere I take my guest when visiting. It has a beautiful view of the Medicine Park area. And the rural atmosphere is great to share with my fellow "City Folk". Everyone is usually amazed at the tree growing directly through the middle of the restaurant. The food is OK. I order a chicken fried steak sandwich once and it was huge (about the size of my face). The service tends to be a little slow. Not to a point that makes you want to leave though. It's a cute place to go as the end of a visit to Medicine Park or Mount Scott.

You know, I've been coming here for over 15 years and it's always just OK. Today I came with my girls, and the stoner/greeter said he'd get us a table. 10 minutes later we were still waiting & a gal at the register asks if we've been helped. I reply that stoner/greeter guy (who was standing next to her) was supposed to have us a table. We get the table, place our order, get our over salted burgers & have to ask for silverware & napkins. "I'm sorry but we're out." Out of napkins? Never ever heard that before. Don't want to go back. Should have gone to Meers instead.

My favorite hidding spot on the weekend away from the weekly corporate world! Great food, employees with an attitude which I'm OK with. - the cigar guy

The service is always great, and the food has always been tasty. Their hamburgers with their handmade patties are fantastic!

Been here three times over about 9 years and every time has been just fine. Service was great, the food was good. We had Country fried steak and a Bacon cheese burger. Both were good. Service was fast and attentive. The only down side was price. I bit over normal but not to bad. Not a very large place. I would suggest eating here in off hours.

A low key nice place to eat when you don't want to cook. My favorite dish is the fried cat-fish. It is perfectly breaded and fried. My date says that it is the best catfish he has ever had. I love the tartar sauce. I usually get the fried catfish with a full loaded baked potatoe. It is a large entree and enough for two to share. There is a large selection of beer. Although, they may not have the beer you want in stock. This happened to me one or twice. This is a quaint restuarant to visit that overlooks the river and has a tree as a part of the foundation. I love to eat here when I am tired of cooking athome.

This place has the potential to be a pretty great little hang out. The food could be better, but it wasn't bad. The service on the other hand was absolutely horrible. We ordered an appetizer and three meals. Twenty minutes later one of the meals arrived. Ten minutes after that a second meal arrived but was not what was ordered. Ten minutes later that meal was brought correctly. We then had to remind them about the third order and the appetizer which we already planned on removing from our ticket. The third meal came about five minutes later. The really sad part is they weren't that busy. Even when we went to pay we were met with incompetence. I was hoping to be able to write a good review when we got there. The outdoor eating area was pretty cool except for the furniture. We had to swap out two chairs with an empty table because they were broken. I would give it a one star but like I said the food was ok. Won't be going there again though.

I have loved Riverside Cafe since 2003. I moved away for a long time, but when I was stationed at Ft Sill, this was one of our favorite places for lunch and dinner. That hasn't changed. I love that it is right on the river, with inside and outdoor seating, you have a great view. The service is pretty good. Their fried mushrooms rock my socks, seriously. The batter is perfectly seasoned, and homemade ranch is served on the side. I usually get a steak or pasta, but last night I tried the fish and chips, which were great. I didn't love the tarter sauce, but the fish was battered perfectly! They have Pepsi products, which makes me happy. I really like Riverside Cafe. Not just for the fun memories, but for the good food too. Is this a fine dining, or fresh concept restaurant? No. Is it good food at a reasonable price? Yes. I will go to Riverside Cafe anytime I'm in Medicine Park.

Slow. Gave us a brand new, mostly unsupervised waitress on her first day for a table of 10 and it reflected in the service. Portions were inconsistent and food quality varied greatly. My salad had brown chunks of lettuce in it. Two stars because my food was ok thougj a smallish portion. Won't be back.
